Turn Your Destination Wedding Into a Coastal Vacation for Your Guests

March 8th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Destination Wedding

Once you have planned the beach wedding of your dreams, take a second to consider the many guests that may be traveling to attend your big day. When you choose to have a destination wedding, it often means that the vast majority of your friends and family will have to make travel arrangements and will often spend days in the city where you are getting married. Make the entire experience memorable by scheduling activities throughout the weekends that all your guests will be sure to enjoy.

Provide Your Guests with Tourist Gift Baskets

An inexpensive way to welcome your guests to a destination wedding is to provide gift baskets or gift bags that are filled with information and goodies that pertain to that specific area. If it is a major tourist destination, consider including area maps, listings of restaurants that feature local cuisine, brochures about local attractions, and any products that the area is known for. Not only will your guests get excited about your destination, but they will suddenly have lots of ideas about how to spend any extra time they have before and after your wedding and reception.

Get Everyone Together

If you know that you are going to have a number of guests arriving the Thursday night of Friday morning before your wedding, plan an optional get-together where family and friends that have not yet met each other, or who have not seen each other in a while, can catch up with one another. Many restaurants and hotels offer banquet rooms that can be rented out. If you would prefer a more cost-effective event, try organizing a picnic at a public beach or park.

Reserve a Tee Time

In addition to offering incredible beaches, coastal cities also offer incredible golf courses that your guests may enjoy. While your bridal party is doing the last-minute errands to plan your wedding, why not book tee times for the golfers in the group? If you choose to do this, you will want to do a little pre-planning so that those that are planning to golf either bring their clubs or call the golf club to inquire about reserving a set of rental clubs.

Involving your guests in all the activities and attractions that your destination has to offer is sure to turn a coastal wedding into a mini-vacation for your guests. By doing a little bit of planning ahead of time, you can create a weekend that your guests won’t soon forget.

Any ideas for gifts for my guests for destination wedding?

February 23rd, 2010 by admin | 5 Comments | Filed in Destination Wedding

I am having a destination wedding and need some help with what gifts I can give my guests. There will be no groomsmen or maids. They only people attending are my mom, her boyfriend (future step dad), my sister in law and her husband, and future in laws. I need ideas on gifts that can be taken on planes easily. I was thinking a beach bag with names embroidered for females, but have no idea for males! Thanks in advance!

Do you have to invite shower guests to the wedding if it is a destination wedding?

February 15th, 2010 by admin | 10 Comments | Filed in Destination Wedding

My friend is throwing me a shower and inviting various high school friends and members of my hometown church. I know that they would never ever make it from TX to my destination wedding in Florida (near his family). Do I need to send them invitations because they were invited to the shower? I know that is the polite thing to do usually but is it different for a destination wedding?
(There is some overlap in who is invited to the shower and who I already have on my wedding invite list, but there is about a 30 person discrepancy.)

How many guests should i have at a destination wedding ?

February 14th, 2010 by admin | 2 Comments | Filed in Destination Wedding

The thing is that we are having our wedding in Mexico. I’m from Mexico City so all the guests from my side are there and his family is from Chicago so they are traveling. Its a destination wedding for his side but an at home wedding for my side. I don’t know how to handle the guest list, since probably I would have more guests.

Looking for wedding/honeymoon package for a true elopement in Canada-just for the two of us – no guests.?

February 6th, 2010 by admin | 2 Comments | Filed in Destination Wedding

I’ve been trying to find information for people who want to truly elope and all I can find is information on weddings that include guests or destination weddings. We just want the wedding for the two of us. Does anyone know of anyone who offers a ceremony designed just for two with a honeymoon – oh and a place to rent a dress? Thank you!
