Once you have planned the beach wedding of your dreams, take a second to consider the many guests that may be traveling to attend your big day. When you choose to have a destination wedding, it often means that the vast majority of your friends and family will have to make travel arrangements and will often spend days in the city where you are getting married. Make the entire experience memorable by scheduling activities throughout the weekends that all your guests will be sure to enjoy.
Provide Your Guests with Tourist Gift Baskets
An inexpensive way to welcome your guests to a destination wedding is to provide gift baskets or gift bags that are filled with information and goodies that pertain to that specific area. If it is a major tourist destination, consider including area maps, listings of restaurants that feature local cuisine, brochures about local attractions, and any products that the area is known for. Not only will your guests get excited about your destination, but they will suddenly have lots of ideas about how to spend any extra time they have before and after your wedding and reception.
Get Everyone Together
If you know that you are going to have a number of guests arriving the Thursday night of Friday morning before your wedding, plan an optional get-together where family and friends that have not yet met each other, or who have not seen each other in a while, can catch up with one another. Many restaurants and hotels offer banquet rooms that can be rented out. If you would prefer a more cost-effective event, try organizing a picnic at a public beach or park.
Reserve a Tee Time
In addition to offering incredible beaches, coastal cities also offer incredible golf courses that your guests may enjoy. While your bridal party is doing the last-minute errands to plan your wedding, why not book tee times for the golfers in the group? If you choose to do this, you will want to do a little pre-planning so that those that are planning to golf either bring their clubs or call the golf club to inquire about reserving a set of rental clubs.
Involving your guests in all the activities and attractions that your destination has to offer is sure to turn a coastal wedding into a mini-vacation for your guests. By doing a little bit of planning ahead of time, you can create a weekend that your guests won’t soon forget.
