.2022 Wedding Trends
According to Fox Business, the wedding industry is beginning to bounce back following the pandemic with guest lists and wedding budgets getting bigger. Does this mean that 2022 Wedding Trends will be taking a swing back towards larger weddings? I personally don’t think so!
Larger Budgets Among 2022 Wedding Trends
The Fox article discusses how wedding budgets have increased compared with 18 months ago. However, this does not necessarily point to much larger weddings! With the number of weddings that were canceled or postponed in 2020 and the early part of 2021 venues, officiants, and other services are now seeing peak demand. That alone is enough to drive up the cost of even a small wedding.
Another element that was touched on in the article was that many couples have not been able to spend much time with their friends and family during the pandemic, so now that they are able to plan a wedding they want to make it extra special for their guests. This means they are willing to spend more money. Again, the increased budget does not mean a larger guest list. It could just mean the couple has chosen to upgrade some of the added extras and luxuries to make their small wedding more extravagant!
Added Safety Precautions
Some venues have reported that the increase in budget is not necessarily being spent on expected items like décor, food, flowers, or photography. Instead, these increased wedding budgets are actually reflecting the addition of COVID-19 protocols such as onsite testing and temperature checks for guests on arrival.
Why Smaller Affairs Will Still Feature in 2022 Wedding Trends
Small weddings won’t be going away any time soon. In fact, in my opinion, they will remain a key feature of the upcoming 2022 Wedding Trends. Priorities have definitely shifted over the last year. Many feel it is a better investment to buy a home/condo rather than throw a lavish wedding. It is difficult to see millennial couples simply turning their backs on those choices.
