4 Ideas for a Low Cost Wedding

4 Ideas for a Low Cost Wedding

Weddings can be expensive, especially if you are opting for the traditional big wedding with a huge guest list and all of the extras! The best way to have a low cost wedding is to scale it back to a small celebration, or even elope! We’ve discussed at great length how eloping can help you to save on the cost of your wedding. However, here are a few more tips that will help you to reduce the cost of your wedding.

1 – Choose a Winter Wedding

As we head into Winter, now is a great time to save on the cost of your wedding as many vendors will have reduced rates during Winter. While weddings happen all year round, Spring and Summer are definitely considered peak wedding seasons, so if you are looking for a low cost wedding, choosing a winter date could help save quite a bit of cash. This is simply because many hotels, inns and bed & breakfast venues are quieter in Winter, so they would rather offer a discounted rate than have an empty venue!

2 – Dress For Less

Staying on the theme of off-season weddings, now is a great time to pick up a discounted bridal gown. Many of the wedding dress shops will be marking down dresses in discontinued styles and ex-display gowns to make way for new stock for next summer. You could get as much as 50% off the dress of your dreams! If you are eloping, you might not want to go for a traditional gown, especially if you are traveling, in which case you will want to take a look at our guide on how to ‘ditch the dress mess‘!

3 – Get Crafty for Low Cost Wedding Decor

Another great way to reduce your budget is to Do It Yourself (DIY) whatever you can. If you have any artistic talents you could make your own décor, flower arrangements, invitations, and more! Pinterest and other websites are awash with great ideas for DIY wedding accessories and props.

4 – Look For Package Deals & Special Offers

Another great way to reduce the cost of your wedding is to look for package deals and specials. Our all-inclusive elopement packages are a great way to plan an elopement wedding with ease, while also saving money compared with booking everything separately. Even if you don’t opt for a package deal, ask your vendor for local recommendations for additional services like photography or cakes. It is likely they have preferred vendors who will offer a discount when your venue refers them.

Are you planning a low cost wedding? We’d love to hear your tips for reducing costs.
