6 Reasons to Elope Explored

When it comes to eloping, one of the biggest hot topics has always been why? If you have been a regular reader of our WhereToElope.com blogs then you will know that this is something that we have talked about at length in order to help couples move past some of the misconceptions surrounding elopement and let go of any guilt that they might be holding on to about choosing an elopement over a traditional wedding. Recently we came across a great blog post that offered 6 Reasons To Elope. We passed it around at WhereToElope.com and everyone on our staff found themselves nodding in agreement at every single one of the reasons! In short, the article summed up everything that we have been saying for years. Seeing that we are not alone in our thoughts on why eloping is the best option for any couple planning a wedding prompted us to reflect on some of our previous blog posts and how they might relate to each of the reasons highlighted in the article. That’s why we have decided to summarize each of the 6 reasons below and add our own insights. what do you think of these reasons to elope explored.

1 – It’s So Much More Romantic

The first reason given was that an elopement is more romantic than a traditional wedding. The article cites the traditional definition of eloping and points to the secrecy and intimacy as one of the key factors in creating that romance. We agree to a certain extent, but times have moved on and elopement is no longer a taboo subject. A growing number of couples are including their immediate family in their elopements or at the very least making an effort to explain their choice to the family. That isn’t to say that we don’t believe eloping is romantic – we spend a great deal of time sourcing some of the most romantic inns and bed and breakfasts in the country for our couples!

2 – It’s About You And Your Fiancé

This right here is one of the most important reasons for choosing to elope! There is something about weddings that really brings out the worst in people and before long you will find yourself scrambling to accommodate a range of requests from well meaning friends and family who think they know best when it comes to your wedding. However, it is exactly that – your wedding and elopement is one of the best ways to make sure that no-one pulls focus from the bride and groom! That’s why our “Why You Are Eloping” Poll consistently returns ‘to avoid family politics’ as one of the most popular answers!

3 – It’s Way Cheaper

If you have read our ebook, then you already know that we put a great deal of emphasis on how much money can be saved when you choose an elopement over a traditional wedding. With the average wedding carrying a $25,500 price tag it is no wonder more couples are eloping allowing them to spend just a fraction of that! The average all inclusive elopement costs $2,500 – a saving of 90%. It is really quite simple – the cost of your wedding decreases with the size!

4 – You Don’t Have To Stress Out About Planning A Wedding

Wedding planning can be a highly stressful time in your life and no bride wants to turn into what is known as a Bridezilla! That’s one of the great things about eloping. It can take all of the stress out of planning the big day. In fact, if you decide to choose one of the many all inclusive elopement packages that are listed on our website, then you could find yourself in a position where all you have to do is obtain the marriage license and turn up on the day! Everything else will be taken care of!

5 – You Can Go Anywhere To Exchange Vows

We certainly agree with this reason 100 percent! When you choose to elope you have the freedom to do it almost anywhere! We recently shared the best places to elope as chosen by our readers and suggested some of the top vendors in those areas. No matter what you are looking for there is sure to be an elopement destination that suits your taste. Why not take a look at our Where page for inspiration?

6 – You Can Focus On The Honeymoon

We have always talked about how an elopement can be combined with what we like to call an ‘elopacation’. You can travel to your destination of choice, get married and then stay on for a few days of vacation/honeymoon. Think about it – if you choose to elope, you can save 90% on the cost of your wedding while still getting to enjoy a honeymoon!

What do you think about these reasons to elope? Do you have another reason?
