All Weddings Matter
One thing that I am incredibly passionate about is that couples should have the wedding that they want – not the weddings others expect of them! Brides are under an incredible amount of pressure to host the perfect wedding based on societal expectations. Somehow, this idea developed that has many people believing that an elopement or a small wedding is somehow lesser than a traditional big wedding! I’m here to tell you that All Weddings Matter! You should have the wedding that works for you whether that means 2 guests or 200! In my opinion, BIG Weddings SUCK! and nobody should be bullied into having one just because it is what everyone else expects you to do!
Why All Weddings Matter
While writing my new book I discovered that a lot of the stigma surrounding small weddings and elopements comes not from disapproving families but from the big wedding vendors. You may remember I talked about the Wedding Industrial Complex in a previous blog post? Well, unfortunately, those big players in the industry often refer to them as being “the low end”. They see them as low profit and therefore don’t want anything to do with them. This has rubbed off on couples planning a wedding, often convincing them that choosing an elopement or small wedding is not valid. However, you need to remember that ALL WEDDINGS MATTER!
In fact, let me share with you a surprising insight that really shows that small affairs are just as important if not more so! One of the statistics I discuss in my book is that couples who spend under $1000 on their wedding are 53% less likely to get divorced! Why? Because these smaller events take less time, less stress, less energy and of course less money to plan! So, those they are more about the love than the “show”.
The #AllWeddingsMatter Campaign
When I realized just how much these couples were being mistreated by big wedding vendors I launched a social media hashtag campaign #AllWeddingsMatter to help spread the word. This is furthered in my new book where I show how that small weddings and elopements are becoming ever more popular and I don’t want any bride to feel ashamed of her wedding. So please follow my #AllWeddingsMatter social media posts.
