As Tiny Weddings Increase Has the Coronavirus Put an End to Lavish Weddings?

The wedding industry has been hugely impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. Throughout most of 2020, couples were forced to cancel, postpone, or completely rethink their plans as COVID-19 restrictions made it impossible to host large social gatherings. As a result, elopements, zoom ceremonies, and tiny weddings fast became the norm last year and it looks like this is set to continue most of the way through 2021.

Tiny Weddings Don’t Have to Mean Settling for Second Best

The more time passes, the clearer it has become that there won’t be any lavish fairy tale marriages on the cards any time soon. However, smaller weddings can still be dream weddings! At WhereToElope.com we have always understood the value of smaller weddings and elopements. Now others in the industry are coming around. Tiny weddings can be every bit as magical and as memorable as a more traditional large wedding.

Vendors are shifting their wedding packages to suit this trend and adding elopement packages too, but are still retaining some of the special touches usually included in larger celebrations. Eloping doesn’t mean you can’t have a first dance or a champagne toast. So what if there are only the two of you in attendance – you can still share a wedding cake! Tiny weddings are still marriages, they just happen on a smaller scale.

Tiny Weddings Have Shifted the Focus

Another thing that we keep hearing from the couples who have canceled large events in favor of tiny weddings during the pandemic is that it has encouraged them to refocus their thoughts about why they are getting married. At the end of the day, a wedding should be about the marriage. It is about the relationship and the joining of two people who love each other. Sometimes when you are planning a big wedding that gets lost in the pageantry. Turning to small weddings and elopements has helped many couples strip back their plans and keep the focus on the marriage instead of the party.

A Smaller Wedding Will Help You Save Money

The pandemic hasn’t just hit the wedding industry hard. Others have also suffered financially due to job losses, pay cuts, and other expenses during the pandemic. Many people just don’t have the type of money it takes to host a large wedding. Tiny weddings are much less expensive making it more feasible if your financial situation is not in the best position at the moment. You can usually elope for more than 90% less than the average cost of a traditional wedding.

Have you exchanged your large wedding plans for a tiny wedding instead? We’d love to hear all about your experiences.
