Engaged Couples Embracing MicroWeddings
Sometimes life has a funny way of throwing you a curveball! When that happens it means some of your plans may have to change. That’s what happened to many couples when the Coronavirus pandemic hit. Plans for big weddings were put on hold or canceled altogether. Restrictions on gatherings, social distancing, and closing hospitality venues threw a monkey wrench in the works for the entire weddings industry. Many of those couples are making other plans opting to elope, tie the knot on Zoom, and now we see Couples Embracing MicroWeddings! Now it looks like those trends could be here to stay as Millennials reevaluate their life choices.
Why MicroWeddings Won’t Be Going Away!
Aside from derailed wedding plans, one thing that the pandemic taught a lot of people is that your next paycheck is never guaranteed. Many people found themselves out of work or taking a substantial pay cut as small businesses across the country closed their doors. Millennials started to find they could no longer justify spending $30,000 or more on a wedding. Other priorities like buying a home or starting a savings plan have become more important. MicroWeddings are the ideal solution for couples finding themselves facing these sorts of choices. You still get all of the key features of a wedding, but on a much smaller scale! As a general rule of thumb, MicroWeddings have approximately 10 to 30 guests.
Prioritizing the Future
One article I read this week on Verve Times shared the story of one couple, Chris and Eryn, who opted for a micro wedding with just 20 of their closest friends and family. They had originally budgeted around $30,000 for their dream wedding in Toronto with a 120 person guest list. However, the article describes how they changed their plans during the pandemic and are now using the money they saved towards a down payment on a house.
