Delayed Wedding Receptions: #ElopeNowPartyLater

The wedding industry is still in some disarray thanks to Coronavirus. Couples are still facing uncertainty about what a wedding will look like as restrictions on large gatherings continue to change every few weeks. That’s why many couples are choosing to elope now and party later with delayed wedding receptions.

What Are Delayed Wedding Receptions?

Delayed wedding receptions are exactly what the name suggests – a wedding reception that is put off until some time after the wedding ceremony. This isn’t a new concept. Eloping couples have been doing it for a long time. They elope together for an intimate ceremony and then celebrate back at home with friends and family. Some even wait until their first wedding anniversary. Now, as we continue to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic it’s becoming an increasingly attractive option for couples that might not have considered eloping under normal circumstances.

Disruptions in Wedding Planning

A recent article I read on this same topic explored the challenges of planning a wedding in the midst of a pandemic. The vendor they spoke with described how planners are having to come up with weddings that will accommodate 10, 25, 50, and 100 people because the regulations on group gatherings change so quickly! This means that planners have to be ready to spring into action and pivot plans at a moment’s notice. This seems incredibly stressful! Rather than have this much uncertainty surrounding your wedding and being pushed to make snap decisions it’s easier to elope!

If you don’t want to postpone your wedding then eloping is the ideal solution. Yes, you may have to drastically reduce your guest list, but that’s the beauty of delayed wedding receptions!  You can take care of the ceremony itself and the legal paperwork at your elopement. Then choose to have a celebration at a later date with friends and family! It’s the best of both worlds.

Have you chosen to #ElopeNowPartyLater? We want to hear your plans!
