Dealing With ‘The Dress Mess’

One of the biggest stress factors in relation to a wedding (for the bride anyway!) has to be ‘The Dress Mess‘! Not only do you have to go through the process of finding that perfect gown for yourself, but if you have bridesmaids and/or flower girls, then you also have to navigate that particular minefield! Unless you are lucky enough to have a set of cookie cutter friends with identical figures, coloring and taste you will find it difficult to find matching bridesmaid dresses that all of them look great and feel comfortable in! It’s enough to make anyone want to Ditch The Dress.

This was actually the topic of a recent blog post on WeddingBee.com which caught my eye and made me think about dresses for eloping. Bride-to-Be Miss Orchard wrote, “As you can see, my girls have very different lives and are scattered all over the place! Getting them into dresses that matched perfectly and still made them all comfortable was not going to be easy. So I took to Pinterest and the wide world of wedding blogs to find some inspiration. I was immediately drawn to the mismatched wedding dress trend, and I knew it would be the way to go.”

If the responses to the post are anything to go by, having mismatched dresses for the bridal party is definitely a very popular choice with many brides, as is allowing bridesmaid to select their own dress within a certain color scheme. If this works then great! Everyone is happy.. or are they? The decision to opt for mismatched dresses to placate the bridal party somehow seems like settling for the easier path. Shouldn’t your wedding day be all about YOU? Unless mismatched dresses originally featured in your plan then I am not sure that they should be introduced to please other people.
