Elopement Planning Checklist
Get The Ultimate Elopement Planning Checklist
Our Elopement Planning Checklist will help you regardless of whether you have decided to have a traditional wedding or an elopement, one thing is certain – you have some planning ahead of you! When it comes to planning a wedding there is a lot to think about and because it is also very exciting it becomes easy for some important decisions to slip under the radar. No-one wants to suddenly realize that they have missed an important piece of paperwork or forgotten to order the wedding rings which is why wedding checklists have become a key feature of may wedding websites and magazines. They offer a step by step guide for couples to help them get from engagement to just married.
Of course, by their very nature elopements involve much less planning, but there is potentially still a fair amount of planning to get through. Often a traditional wedding checklist is no use as an elopement does not have the same considerations and time lines. With that in mind, and as part of our ongoing commitment to showing couples the easiest way to ‘just married’ we have created a wedding checklist especially for couples who are choosing to elope.
Elopement Planning-The Dos and Don’ts
Every year there are more couples choosing to break away from tradition and planning elopement instead of a big white wedding. There are various reasons why ranging from the opportunity to save money to avoiding family drama and everything in between. Whatever the reason, planning elopement can be just as special as a traditional wedding. In days gone by, eloping meant running off to the courthouse together, but modern elopements can be as elaborate or as simple as you choose.
Here are some handy dos and don’ts to help you when planning elopement.
Elopement Planning: The Dos
- Do Make Your Wedding Day All About You!
One of the great things about choosing to elope is that you can be a little bit selfish! Often, when you have a traditional wedding you find yourself bending over backward to please other people. Your wedding day should be all about you and eloping makes it much easier to indulge yourself in the things you want! - Do Take Full Advantage of The Savings
One of the most common reasons why couples choose to elope is that it allows them to save more than 90% on the cost of a traditional wedding! What would you do with that money? Perhaps you can buy a house or condo, invest in your future, or have a luxury honeymoon! - Do Enjoy the Moment
Elopement ceremonies are much more intimate than big, traditional weddings. Savor the moment and make memories that will last a lifetime. An elopement allows you to focus on your partner as you exchange vows and embark on a new life together.
Elopement Planning: The Don’ts
- Don’t Feel Guilty About Eloping
One thing we tell all of our couples is that they should never feel guilty about eloping. This is your relationship and your marriage, so you should make the choices that matter to you. The family may be upset at first, but if you approach the subject appropriately they will come to understand your reasons for choosing elopement. - Don’t Stress About The Guest List
Something many couples tell us puts them off planning a traditional wedding is family politics. It seems we all have an aunt that won’t be in the same room as a certain cousin or divorced relatives that cannot be seated together! With an elopement, you don’t need to worry about the guest list! Some couples chose to invite their parents or best friends, but you don’t need to. If you would rather it was just you and your beloved then that is okay too! - Don’t Miss Out on the Things That Matter
As shown on our short Elopement Planning Checklist, Eloping does not mean you have to give up on any of the usual trappings associated with a wedding. If you have always wanted a princess style wedding dress then have one! An elopement can be as basic or as elaborate as you want it to be. Never feel like eloping means you have to miss out on any aspect of a wedding.
