How to Avoid Big Wedding Problems?

How to Avoid Big Wedding Problems?

Anyone who has ever gotten married and gone down the whole ‘big white wedding‘ route will tell you that planning the big day is one of the most stressful things that a couple can do! There are so many problems that suddenly arise when you start to plan a big traditional wedding. Some of them are things that you had probably never even dreamed could be an issue! It is safe to say that weddings have a tendency to bring out the very worst in people! The good news is you can avoid these big wedding problems.

Here are a few of the most common problems that often go hand in hand with a traditional wedding:

  • Financial Problems – The bigger your wedding is, the more it is going to cost. This means that you may have to put yourself into debt to cover the cost. Do you really need to add that pressure onto your relationship at the beginning? Money is one of the main causes of arguments in any marriage. By having a large wedding you could be burdening yourself with financial strain unnecessarily. That could have a knock-on effect on your relationship.
  • Messy Family Politics – It is a well known fact that in the majority of cases, a wedding – or any other large family gathering for that matter – will usually result in someone getting upset. Limited guest list numbers can mean having to leave some friends or relatives out. The result is they may take offense to that especially if they believe  that someone less deserving was included. It is also likely that your parents will campaign to have friends or even business contacts included. Family politics are one of the biggest problems that couples face when planning a big wedding. Getting married is stressful enough without having to either argue with family members or serve as a referee!
  • Getting The Wedding That You Want – When you are planning a big wedding, you might find that you begin to lose control of the event. Soon you will have friends and family making suggestions about what your wedding should be like. Before you know it, your dream wedding is nothing like the wedding you have planned. The more people that are involved in your wedding, the more difficult it is to keep your vision on track.

Avoiding These Problems by Eloping

The good news is that you could avoid all of those “big wedding” problems mentioned above and more by choosing to elope instead! According to our research, almost 72% of couples who choose to elope consider cost-saving to be a major factor in their decision! A traditional big wedding costs an average of around $25,000. That is a massive expense and many couples struggle with the idea of starting off their married life with such a large amount of debt. In fact, more than 24% of eloping couples say that they would rather redirect that money towards purchasing a house or upgrading their existing home. The average cost of an elopement is around $2,500 or less – as shown in our eBook, that is a massive saving of 90% and you still get to have a honeymoon!

Choosing to elope also takes care of some of the other problems that we mentioned! Going back to our research again, 49% of couples choose to elope so that they can avoid family politics! If you are struggling with a guest list for your wedding because your parents are divorced and are no long on civil terms or because Uncle George refuses to attend any family function if Aunt Jean is there then why not just dispense with the guest list all together? The bottom line is, your wedding is about you and your partner making a commitment to each other so why not have an intimate ceremony just for the two of you?

This also ties into another of those big wedding problems – making your wedding all about you. When you choose elopement it is much easier to ensure that you get the wedding that you really want without other people trying to guide you towards what they think you should want!
