Lucky Wedding Dates

Does Your Wedding Date Matter?

One thing that we have noticed in our Should You Elope? survey results from eloping couples lately is that a growing number are choosing lucky wedding dates to tie the knot. That could mean choosing a birthday or an anniversary, or it could mean choosing a wedding date that is easy to remember! One date that is showing up real soon is August 18th 2018 aka 8-18-18!  Not only is 8-18-18 particularly easy to remember, but it might just be one of the incredibly lucky wedding dates! Let’s find out why!

Choosing Number 8 for your Wedding Date

In Chinese tradition, numbers are very important and the number 8, in particular, is considered an auspicious choice for a wedding given that it symbolizes infinity! Any date ending in 8 is a good option for a wedding, but the 8th day of the 8th month is considered particularly lucky. Did you know that this is the main reason that 8-8-08 was chosen as the opening date of the Beijing Olympics? The ceremony even kicked off at 8 minutes past 8!

If you are planning on eloping soon, then you have several potential dates coming up that will incorporate lucky wedding dates with the number 8 prominently:

  • 8-1-18
  • 8-8-18
  • 8-18-18

Double Your Luck With a Midweek Wedding Date

Aside from just featuring lucky number 8 prominently, 2 of the dates mentioned above have another thing that makes them a very smart choice for lucky wedding dates! Both the 1st and the 8th of August fall on a Wednesday in 2018. Why is that lucky? Well, if you have been reading the Where To Elope blog for a little while, you will likely already know the answer. Midweek wedding packages are often a much better value for the money! Many Inns or Hotels are only partially filled midweek, so they are willing to offer a low price elopement package in order to fill a room that would otherwise remain empty. That means these special dates are easy to remember, affordable and considered lucky wedding dates – what more could you ask for?

Of course, while having a significant wedding date is nice, what matters most is that the day you choose suits you and your partner. Your wedding day is about celebrating your love and that means no matter which date you choose it will be the right one! So, why not chose on of these lucky wedding dates?
