Mini-Monies: The Small Wedding Trend That’s Here to Stay!
The wedding industry has been through the mill over the last 2 years! It seemed for a while that life was ready to return to something resembling normal. However, the threat of the COVID-19 Delta variant has renewed talk of social distancing and limits on gatherings. How do you plan a big traditional wedding when making plans seems impossible? That’s where the latest small wedding trend – mini-monies – steps in!
What Are Mini-Monies?
It’s rare that I come across a small wedding trend that I haven’t heard of before, so when I first saw the term mini-monies in an article at Scary Mommy, I was intrigued! However, on investigating further, I discovered that it’s just the latest name for what many of us know as micro weddings, mini weddings, tiny weddings or aka elopements! So, mini-monies are not really a new small wedding trend as such. There is no denying that micro weddings are enjoying mainstream popularity right now as a direct result of the ongoing pandemic.
Why Is The Small Wedding Trend So Popular?
The current situation with COVID-19 restrictions, and the unsteady economy has put a strain on many couples financially. It has become difficult to keep rescheduling weddings to avoid restrictions. But, delaying weddings comes with no guarantee that the new date will be able to go ahead either. In fact, as you’ll read in an upcoming blog, some traditional wedding vendors are starting to recommend that couples consider eloping to avoid potential cancellations. As a result, many couples are abandoning attempts to plan a big wedding and opting for a micro wedding- or minimony as this is more likely to go ahead, even if restrictions do happen to change again. Plus, it is also far less expensive!
