When it comes to planning mountain elopements, many couples are in search of drama and adventure! Grandiose panoramic views, towering trees, and majestic mountain peaks can offer exactly that. This also offers a stunning backdrop for your mountain elopements ceremony.  A mountain elopement is an ideal choice for couples looking for a location with a little bit of WOW factor. It is all thanks to Mother Nature! Let’s take a closer look at mountain elopements.

How Much Do Mountain Elopements Cost?

Here are WhereToElope.com we are huge fans of the mountain elopement. In fact, one of our staff says that her intimate wedding was made perfect by the smell of the fresh mountain air. The towering trees also played a big part in her dream Tahoe elopement. We couldn’t agree more, so we have put together some of our favorite mountain locations and vendors. This will also give you some idea of how much a mountain elopement costs.

Mountain Elopements in the NorthEast

If you are thinking of a mountain elopement, then the beautiful Northeast should be one of the first areas on your list. You will have the option of picturesque Sleigh rides in Winter and stunning boat rides in Summer! One of our favourites is the Mountain Top Inn in Vermont which has some great elopement packages to offer. In fact, if you are looking to elope to New England then you will be spoilt for choice in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

Alternatively, you might want to consider The Poconos for your mountain elopement. There are a number of hidden gems dotted around the mountains including Lois Heckman’s stunning Harmony Gardens in the foothills of The Poconos. These mountain destinations are among the best that Pennsylvania has to offer.

Mountain Elopements in the NorthWest

Perhaps it is the NorthWest which calls to you when you think about a mountain elopement? If so, then we can highly recommend Alaska Adventures Juneau. They can help you to find an extraordinary venue for your elopement. You could exchange vows at the top of a glacier, ride the tram to the top of Mount Roberts or even get married in the garden rainforest! Don’t all of those mountain elopements in Alaska sound simply magical?

Mountain Elopements in the SouthEast

If you think that a mountain elopement in the SouthEast is going to be more your thing, then we would definitely recommend checking out the stunning Smokey Mountains. If you are a regular reader, then you may recall a recent feature on eloping to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee where we introduced some pretty mountain locations including Cupid’s Chapel of Love and The Chapel at The Park. One of the stunning locations that we neglected to mention in that feature is Butterfly Hollow Bed & Breakfast. When it comes to choosing a mountain elopement, we find that it is usually the case that the couple

One of the stunning locations that we neglected to mention in that feature is Butterfly Hollow Bed & Breakfast. When it comes to choosing a mountain elopement, we find that it is usually the case that the couple are nature lovers. This is exactly the sort of guest that this particular venue caters to, offering a haven for nature lovers and gorgeous organic meals. The hollow offers only a handful of dates in May, June, and October for intimate elopements allowing you to enjoy a truly personalized experience.

Mountain Elopements in the SouthWest

Perhaps we are just a little biased when it comes to Colorado since that is where Where to Elope HQ is located. However, it truly is a fantastic destination for those interested in having a Rocky Mountain elopement. With over 50 major peaks across 17 mountain ranges, it is easy to see why the Centennial state should be your first port of call for a mountain elopement!

Pikes Peak Mountain Elopements

Let’s start by looking at some of the beautiful spots to marry in the Pikes Peak region of the Front Range. Sundance Mountain Lodge offers a range of 3 different elopement packages to choose from. Prices start at just $430 for the simple mid-week elopement package. One of the key features of the lodge is, of course, their iconic log gazebo which is built from beetle kill logs. Alternatively, you might want to check out the Secret Window Fine Art Gallery for a more contemporary venue. A weekday evening package costs around $795 for a two-hour wedding including a champagne toast.

Estes Park Mountain Elopements

The Estes Park area of the Rocky Mountains also boasts some great elopement destinations. The Della Terra Mountain Chateau lets couples enjoy an intimate elopement ceremony in one of the stunning areas set up for weddings. This includes ‘The Gathering Place’ which features stunning balconies and grand fireplaces. Marry Me In Colorado is a service offering a range of elopement packages and destination weddings across the Rocky Mountains and Estes Park area. The packages range in price, ensuring that there is something to suit any budget. The area also boasts a number of intimate mountain B&B venues and mountain lodges including Barbara’s Bed & Breakfast, Romantic River Song and The Black Dog Inn.

One of our more recent discoveries in Colorado offers couples a truly unique way to elope. Check out Elope to Breckenridge for a stunning ice castle elopement package. It would be sure to set your wedding apart from any other. The gorgeous mountain venue also offers various other options for couples looking for a wedding venue.

Colorado Officiants for Mountain Elopements

Regardless of where in Colorado you choose to elope to, if you need the services of an officiant then we can recommend Reverend Barbara J. Butler who you might have seen recently featured in our grand prizewinners blog where Barbara conducted the ceremony. Although she is based in Aurora, Barbara is more than willing to meet couples anywhere in Colorado. That includes the mountains and create a custom elopement ceremony that meets your needs.

For complete details on the many mountain elopements available across Colorado check out our state listings page or visit our partner website Elope to Colorado.  But don’t forget that the Rockies go north to Montana and Glacier National Park.

California Mountain Elopements

Of course, Colorado is not the only place in the SouthWest that can offer a stunning mountain elopement destination. When you think of California, you may not instantly think of mountains. In fact, it is more likely that you think of golden beaches or perhaps wine country. However, California also boasts some impressive mountain elopement destinations thanks to the stunning Sierra Nevada Mountains. One of our favorite mountain venues in California is the Dunbar House in Murphy’s. The beautiful inn sits in the Sierra Nevada Gold Country foothills. If you are even a bit Irish what could be better than marrying in Murphy’s during their huge St. Patrick’s Day celebration? This is an easily accessible spot which is close to both San Francisco and Silicon Valley.

Lake Tahoe is another mountain elopement destination that you might want to consider. This is a  location which offers the best of both worlds – a lakeside retreat along with majestic mountains! Lake Tahoe Wedding Chapel offers a range of elopement packages starting from under $300 rising to $3,299 for the complete package. Similarly, Lake of the Sky Weddings also offers a range of lakeside mountain elopements for every budget. The basic package including your wedding license, officiant, marriage certificate and a photo CD costing as little as $295. Our partner site, Elope to California has plenty of information about mountain elopements in California.

 Mountain Elopements in New Zealand

If you want to really go for it then you might consider a mountain elopement outside of the United States. Our vendor Dream Weddings New Zealand has mountain elopement packages in New Zealand starting at $5800. Does not include airfare. They often refer to New Zealand as ‘God Zone’. The Maori name also translates as ‘Land of The Long White Cloud’. We think both of those names seem fitting for a dream elopement destination. If you’re a Lord of The Rings fan, maybe you are familiar with the mountain views New Zealand offers. Just imagine the memories that you could make when you choose a Mountain Elopement in New Zealand.

Whether you prefer the dramatic backdrop of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains or the Tranquility of Lake Tahoe, a mountain elopement could be exactly what you are looking for!
