New Elopement Trends for Corona Brides

As we adjust to a new kind of “normal” thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic large family gatherings like weddings are having obstacles thrown in their path! With social distancing still in effect, many states are restricting gatherings to only a small group of people. There are also some travel restrictions in place that could stop wedding guests from being able to get to the event even if it is able to go ahead. All of this has created new elopement trends for Corona Brides. Some couples feel unable to go ahead with the traditional wedding they had planned in order to protect elderly or vulnerable relatives who are at an increased risk from COVID-19. Then, of course, there are some wedding vendors who just were not able to survive the pandemic due to lock downs and other restrictions.

All of this means that the wedding industry as we know it has been forever changed. An increasing number of couples are opting to choose an elopement after being forced to cancel larger weddings. Others are seeking out other new elopement trends that have emerged as a direct result of the pandemic. Let’s take a look at some of the new elopement trends for Corona Brides!

New Elopement Trends for Virtual Weddings

We have previously talked about zoom weddings and other virtual options like dress fitting and other appointments. This is one of the new elopement trends that is gaining more and more traction as Coronavirus continues to impact our lives. Not only are couples using services like Zoom and Skype to stream their intimate wedding ceremonies and elopements to guests unable to attend, but many vendors are now making a point of offering Virtual Wedding Packages after seeing the increase in demand!

Online weddings are being made legal in a growing number of states with New York, Colorado, and Ohio among the first to support these new elopement trends. The rules vary from state to state, so it is important to find out what the local requirements are if you do choose to go down this route for your wedding. Even jewelry chain Jared has gotten in on the virtual wedding action offering 1,000 couples free support and tools to host a virtual wedding as part of their #LoveCantWait campaign.

Unexpected wedding Vendors

It is not just traditional wedding vendors who have been impacted by the pandemic. Businesses from across the entertainment and hospitality industries have been struggling to thrive. This has resulted in one of the more unexpected new elopement trends that are for unexpected vendors to start offering elopement packages! For example, the Pabst Theater Group is offering elopement packages at 3 locations across Milwaukee.  They have proven so popular that Pabst has extended them through the end of 2020. With many vendors booking up fast to accommodate rescheduled events, it might be worth checking out some places that are new to the elopement scene.

Have you been considering one of these new elopement trends to allow your wedding to go ahead? We would love to hear about your plans and experiences.
