Small Wednesday Weddings
Getting married on a Wednesday is a concept that we have been promoting for quite some time, However, there has been a renewed interest in small Wednesday weddings recently thanks to industry-wide changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With social distancing and restrictions on gathering sizes, couples scaled back their wedding plans and embraced more intimate concepts. An increasing number of couples chose to elope, host a micro-wedding, or even get married via Zoom! These changes were necessary at the time, but it also highlighted the benefits of a smaller wedding. Couples seem to have embraced the idea in the long term!
Why Small Wednesday Weddings Cost Less
The main reason we started to promote midweek weddings or what we call a WOW (Weddings On Wednesday) was that it offered our couples a chance to access some venues that might otherwise be out of their budget. Our vendors benefited because they were often empty on a Wednesday. Even offering a substantial discount for small Wednesday weddings was bringing in additional revenue. This has become more important than ever in the wake of the pandemic. It’s a win-win situation for couples and vendors alike!
Fun Fact! Did you know? According to Irish tradition, Wednesday is the best day of all to get married and will bring couples good luck!
Clearing the Backlog of Weddings
Aside from it bringing you the luck of the Irish and saving you money there is another good reason to consider a small Wednesday wedding. Not everyone decided to scale back their wedding plans during the pandemic. Many opted to postpone or reschedule instead. That means that the popular weekend dates are now very much in demand as all of those 2020 and 2021 brides try to book a 2022 wedding! If you are flexible and can get married midweek, it is going to allow you to jump the queue at some venues! Also, studies suggest that Wednesday is even the easiest day to arrange time off work!
