Why Do Couples Choose Weekday Weddings?

Why Do Couples Choose Weekday Weddings?

Traditionally speaking, most weddings are usually held on a Saturday. However, in recent years there has been a very definite surge in the number of couples getting married midweek. Today up to 33% of Couples get married midweek. This is especially true when looking at eloping couples who are more likely to buck tradition and choose a midweek wedding date. Let’s take a look at why weekday weddings are becoming so popular with eloping couples.

weekday Weddings Cost Less!

One of the key reasons for choosing elopement over a traditional marriage is that you have the opportunity to save as much as 90% versus the cost of a traditional wedding. We know from our ongoing research that saving money is an important factor in not only choosing to elope but also in choosing an elopement package.

With that in mind, eloping couples are always interested to learn that elopement packages are often cheaper midweek than they are at weekends. This is because weekends are busier and in more demand, therefore vendors can charge full rate, but often they will have empty rooms midweek, especially during the offseason, so they are more willing to discount their elopement packages in order to fill a room that would otherwise be empty. This is great news for eloping couples working with a tight budget!

Over the past few years, we have started working with our vendors to create some excellent midweek specials and discount elopement packages that are specifically aimed at couples who can elope on weekday. You will find more information on these packages in our Weekday Wedding section.

Midweek Weddings and Elopements Are More Accessible!

Another reason why midweek weddings have started to become increasingly popular among the elopement set is that they allow couples more access to venues. If you have any experience with wedding planning you will know that often the most popular venues and the hottest photographers and florists are booked out sometimes years in advance. This is because most traditional weddings are held on Saturdays and there are only so many of those to go around!

However, with elopements couples often have more flexibility. If you do not have to consider guests being able to get time off work or travel from out of town you will be less tied to a weekend date making a midweek wedding more feasible for you. Since midweek is not peak time you are likely to find that even the most popular venues have more availability on weekdays than they do on weekends – plus you may even manage to get one of those midweek discounts we just talked about!

These popular locations are also likely to be less busy on weekdays since people are at work rather than taking day trips or short breaks. This means that you can enjoy a little more privacy. This is particularly useful if you are marrying on the beach or in a public park.

In this blog, we have shared just a few of the many reasons why couples are increasingly interested in getting married midweek. If you are interested in finding out more about weekday weddings, then be sure to check out our Midweek Wedding page.
