Why is Eloping Growing?
1. Stress of Cost
Steve Martin did a wonderful job of portraying the stress of the growing cost of a traditional wedding. Money has recently taken on a new value; we are no longer spending it like water. Though water can be costly too. Anyway you get my drift. Big traditional weddings cost 90% or more than an elopement costs. The couple who eloped is just as married as if they had gone through the great stress and financial outflow of their hard earned savings, as the big wedding couple. The idea of a destination elopement appeals to some couples, as a better use of their money and time. The money saved on an elopement, be it local, or a destination elopement, will relieve a great amount of stress that comes with the traditional big wedding budget plus provide for other things like a honeymoon or a mini-moon.
2. Family Dynamics
The depiction of family in Four Christmases is to close to home for many couples. Having so many different sets of families to strategically seat at the wedding and reception is enough to send many couples to the Internet to sites like WhereToElope.com to find their place to elope that will contribute to the joy of your wedding. Click here to find your location and vendor, click Places then click on the country and or state/province. You will find an elopement vendor that will fit your needs.
3. Millennial Choice
The generation who is filling out most of the marriage licenses now have individualistic ideas of what a wedding should be. These individual ideas work well with eloping to favorite destinations, or having a very intimate wedding with close friends attending. The uniqueness of each couple has added to the surge of Elopements, aka tiny/mini-weddings; that is, weddings with about 20 people or less attending.
As you can see, there are many reasons for today’s couples choosing to elope: Finances; escaping family drama; time constraints; freedom from the norm. We at WhereToElope.com have been researching the recent up tic in elopement weddings for some time and have discovered that the wedding industry is shifting.
