Why Should Everyone Elope?

Why Should Everyone Elope?

Even though eloping is becoming more socially acceptable, there are still some people who may feel a little bit uncomfortable when you announce your elopement plans and that can be enough to make you second guess your decision. However, here at WhereToElope.com we think that elopement is nothing to be ashamed of and that it is certainly something that every engaged couple needs to consider. Here are some of the reasons why we think everyone should elope.

Eloping Saves You Money

One of the biggest reasons why people should be seriously considering elopement is that it can save you a great deal of money. The average traditional wedding costs approximately $25,000 which is a considerable amount of money and many couples believe it would be better put to use as a down payment on a home or other financial investment. In our ebook, we outlined how you could save 90% on your wedding and still get to enjoy a honeymoon just by choosing to elope. An all-inclusive elopement package is around $2,500, but a basic ceremony can get you married for just a couple of hundred dollars.

Eloping is The Stress Free Option

Another common reason for couples to choose an elopement is to avoid the stress of a big wedding. Not only is actually planning the wedding stressful, but when you add in all of the family politics and the fact that everyone has their opinion about what you should be doing it can soon escalate into a nightmare! When you choose to elope instead you cut out all of that stress. When you choose an elopement package you pretty much only have to show up with a marriage license in hand on the day! What could be more stress free than that?

It May Actually Make Your Marriage Stronger

Another reason that we believe everyone should elope is that it can actually make your marriage better! This is something that we have talked about before in our blog. We challenged the misconception that elopement was a rash decision that could only end in divorce when we discussed long lasting elopements. We also looked at some recent research that suggested that the more money you spend on your wedding the more likely it is that you will get divorced. These both point to the fact that marriages that begin with an elopement could be stronger. There is also something to be said about the fact that when you elope, the focus is more about the marriage than the ‘wedding’ that cannot be a bad thing!

What do you think? Should everyone consider elopement and if so, why?
