Wedding Planning in 3 Months or Less
One of the biggest reasons why couples chose to elope is so they can avoid the stress of wedding planning. It often takes upwards of a year to plan a traditional wedding. That’s a long time to be tied up in the details! Elopements are much quicker and easier to plan! You can even get a same day license in certain states, although most of our couples do opt for a little bit more wedding planning time! We recently stumbled upon a blog post by Allie Seidel discussing planning a wedding in under 3 months. We thought some of her tips sounded just perfect for an elopement! You can read her wedding planning post in its entirety here and check out our take on it below.
Have a Clear Vision & Get Your Wedding Planning Organized
We have combined two of Allie’s main points here – knowing your vision and staying organized. These are two very important parts of planning a wedding, but especially an elopement. If you start out with a vision of how your wedding day should look it is going to make it so much easier to decide where to elope. Look for wedding vendors and elopement packages that offer all of the features your vision calls for!
Allie also makes a good point about wedding checklists. She found that the ones available online and from bridal magazines were too complex for her wedding. Eloping couples often find the same problem which is why we created our free elopement checklist.
Hiring a ‘Day-Of’ Coordinator
Allie also suggests hiring a day-of coordinator to deal with any little snags on the day of the wedding and keep things running smoothly. On the whole, we feel that wedding planners are an unnecessary expense for elopements, but we also understand that you want your wedding day to run smoothly so the attraction of day-of coordinators is valid. However, when you choose to elope, the day is usually kept fairly simple and there is little chance of a mishap. If you still feel more comfortable having someone to oversee proceedings then look out for elopement packages that include day-of coordinator services.
Have Fun with Your Wedding Planning
One of the best takeouts from Allie’s blog post is her final piece of advice for couples wedding planning is – have fun. This is another one of the top reasons why couples want to elope – to have fun! Choosing to elope means that you can enjoy your day by having it your own way without stress or worries of big wedding planning.
